A Little Hotel in Cornwall by Laura Briggs Review

A Hotel in Cornwall
Little Hotel in Cornwall #1
By Laura Briggs
Release Date: April 30th, 2019
Tour Host: Rachel's Random Resources

Struggling American waitress and aspiring novelist Maisie Clark dreams of becoming a full-time writer — even though in real life she's just lost her chance at an exclusive writer's mentorship program that would give her novel its big break. Desperate, she decides to take a chance and ask her favorite writer, a celebrated but reclusive English novelist, to help her find a second chance.

When she receives the author's reply in an envelope with a Cornish postmark, Maisie decides not to take the writer's half-hearted 'no' for an answer. With nothing to lose, she takes off for the author's last known location, a beautiful hotel on Cornwall's western coast. But when the hotel mistakes her for the latest applicant for a maid's position, Maisie finds herself given an opportunity too good to lose ... and a chance for a summer adventure far bigger than she ever imagined.

Surrounded by breathtaking Cornwall and working in an elegant hotel, Maisie's world becomes one of secret identities, quirky friends, and unintentional mishaps — and despite reminders of past relationship disasters, a certain handsome, charming local resident Sidney Daniels has her conflicted about her heart's desires, too.

Will Maisie find the chance she's been waiting for — and a possible new romance — in her perfect Cornish summer?

When Maisie doesn't get on to the exclusive writer's mentorship program she had all her hopes and dreams set on, she was devastated, but she doesn't let that stop her and reaches out to an elusive British novelist to help her pursue her dreams! But even that didn't work, not deterred Maisie hops on a plane and heads for England, specifically the Cornish coast where that Novelist was last spotted, and after a series of hiccups, accidental impersonations Maisie finds herself a chambermaid at an exclusive hotel...but can she find her novelist?

After reading A Wedding in Cornwall by Laura Briggs, I was excited to read another one of her books, but this book is different to A Wedding in Cornwall and that is that this is the first book in a novella series and even though I have mostly gotten over my hated of series books, I struggled with this book, as in my humble opinion I think it would be better if it was a full book, I fear people (like me) will get easily bored waiting for the next installment.

As I love all things Cornwall I found the setting to be perfect, and I have to say I really enjoyed the characters, but it took me a little bit too warm to Maisie. But overall a nice little novella that will relax you for a couple of hours at the beach or the garden.

I give A Little Hotel in Cornwall 4 stars
