Air Ambulance pilot Sam Ellis is definitely not looking for romance either, especially not on his doorstep. When Florence, his new neighbor, complains about his noisy housemate, he feels more cross than star-crossed.

But as the nights draw in and both find themselves thrown together in Willowbury’s seasonal drama production, will they overcome their differences and allow a little bit of winter magic to fall along with the snow? And what secrets will be revealed by the box of memories Florence finds in the attic at Bay Tree Terrace?

Let Fay Keenan transport you to the perfect country winter wonderland, with roaring fires, spectacular scenery, and unforgettable characters. Perfect for all fans of Cathy Bramley, Fern Britton, and Katie Fforde.

I love a good winter story on a 90° day here in America, mainly because this Brit ex-pat can’t handle the heat, so what perfect time that I get stuck into Snowflakes Over Bay Tree Terrace by Fay Keenan.

We start the story with Florence inheriting a cottage from her Great Aunt, and it comes at the perfect time for her (not the death obviously), as it was time for her to be moving on as she had been teaching in York since she graduated, and for an army brat, that was too long and as the old adage goes change was as good as a rest. But little did she think when moving into her great aunt's cottage just how much would change.

I found this book enjoyable and sweet, though a little slow to start in the beginning, it soon flowed, pulling me into this wonderful story. I enjoyed Florence and Sam’s characters. The book was cleverly written, with the will they/won’t they plot, that kept me with the story till the very end.

I give Snowflakes Over Bay Terrace 4 stars.

Fay Keenan is the author of the bestselling Little Somerby series of novels. She has led writing workshops with Bristol University and has been a visiting speaker in schools. She is a full-time teacher and lives in Somerset.
