She’s not the naïve girl she used to be…
After serving time for a crime she didn’t commit, Evangeline returns home to a cold welcome. Her mother blames her for her father’s death, and her brothers want her out of their way. When Evangeline learns she’s solely responsible for their failing ranch—putting her family’s future squarely on her shoulders—she’ll have to find a creative way to save their home before they lose it all.
She’ll have her reckoning...
Her only ally: the cop who sent her away. Chris Chambers is positive she went to prison to protect someone else. He strikes a deal: help him track down the real criminals in exchange for clearing her name. But the closer Evangeline and Chris get to exposing the truth—and to each other—the deeper Evangeline is drawn into a dangerous sting that could finally bring her justice…or put her dreams on hold permanently.
She’ll fight for the life she always wanted…
Everyone’s lives moved on while Evangeline’s stood still. Now she has a chance to rebuild her family ranch, her life, and expose the people who put her away so she can become the woman she was always meant to be.

The Me I Used to Be is a novel which I'm hoping turns in a new series by Jennifer Ryan, where she expands out of the incredibly tough genre of romance and into an equally genre of women's fiction, but for you die-hard Jennifer Ryan fans, the book is still essentially a Jennifer Ryan book, but there are a lot more characters and other character opinions that you will experience in this book and it adds a whole other dimension to the plot, that will give you all the feels!

Evangeline Austin is one of the strongest women you will have met in a book, as after serving a sentence for a crime that she had no idea she had committed or even knew she was committing! And as Evangeline is sitting in a parole hearing, in walks the man she should hate, among many! Lt. Chris Chambers, the man who arrested her! and yet again he brings her heartbreaking news, her father has died, and that he has an appeal for instant release, leaving Evangeline with only one place to go, back home! but Evangeline is not walking back into the warm bosom of a loving family, but into hell where she is literally being blamed for things that are beyond her control. And when Chris dangles a proverbial carrot in her face, help him find the true criminal gang, who set her up and her record will be expunged! And Evangeline is scared that it's a trap, that will send her back to hell.

The Me I Used to Be is the book that will single-handedly keep the tissue makers in business! For it's such a beautifully haunting tale and has driven me to tears again and again! especially with the horror that Evangeline went through in jail, and then goes through until the truth comes out. but the writing, plot and the characters are absolutely exquisite! You cannot help but get caught up in the family drama that goes on in Evangeline's life.

I sincerely hope that this is not just a one-off book, but the first book in the series, and one that I can love and cry my eyes out, for many years to come, what is why I give The Me I Used to Be 5 Stars.
