The Summer Cottage was the first Viola Shipman book I have read, but it certainly will not be my last! I really related to Adie Lou's character, and her plight and struggle after being dumped by her husband for a younger woman! and I also applaud her for fighting for her childhood home. The rituals that her parents had started for The Summer Cottage were simply darling! and I could only long for a magical childhood that Adie Lou had!
The whole fighting for what is hers and starting again afresh in her hometown, I also the reconnecting with the past and taking on the town bully aspect! The characters are fantastic, and the story simple, and the small town comes across as a magical place! but really what more do you need for the perfect book.
And by the end of the book, it truly was THE perfect story for me. I love the main premise of finding yourself again after devastation, with offshoots lessons of sticking up for yourself, finding love, finding friends and finding happiness.
The Summer Cottage is a magical read, that will stay in your heart forever! which is why I give it 5 stars!
