USA Today bestselling author Sawyer Bennett scores big-time with the first novel in a sexy new series hot enough to melt the ice.

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.

As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

This is a story of two damaged people. One who has moved past the past and who is taking positive steps towards the future and the other is stuck in the past and destroying themselves.
So the story goes like this, Alex is flying on autopilot, living game to game, hook up to hook up until his coach said enough! And sent him to go and take part in an anti-drug/addiction program with Sutton. After making a very bad first impression, friendship builds and so do passion. But can Alex and Sutton's relationship last or will their past destroy it.
So my first impression of Alex is "what an arse!" but he did grow on me. Sutton I loved from the beginning, her spirit and positive nature just raises your spirits. There were so many parts of this book that I loved from Sutton's first hockey game to Alex's alpha male moment during practice, but nothing stole my heart more than the Love Actually moment! I was honestly in tears at that point.
Just because this book is a Hockey themed book, don't be put off by that. It is seamlessly woven into the story and you don't even realize you are learning something new. The whole book was written so very well, no holes or bizarre story lines.
I give this book 9 out of 10 because I really enjoyed this book and it inspired my renewed interest in hockey players ;-)
