A Marquess For Christmas by Christi Caldwell Review

Lady Patrina Tidemore gave up on the ridiculous notion of true love after having her heart shattered and her trust destroyed by a black-hearted cad. Used as a pawn in a game of revenge against her brother, Patrina returns to London from a failed elopement with a tattered reputation and little hope for a respectable match. The only peace she finds is in her solitude on the cold winter days at Hyde Park. And even that is yanked from her by two little hellions who just happen to have a devastatingly handsome, but coldly aloof father, the Marquess of Beaufort. Something about the lord stirs the dreams she’d once carried for an honorable gentleman’s love.
Weston Aldridge, the 4th Marquess of Beaufort was deceived and betrayed by his late wife. In her faithlessness, he’s come to view women as self-serving, indulgent creatures. Except, after a series of chance encounters with Patrina, he comes to appreciate how uniquely different she is than all women he’s ever known. At the Christmastide season, a time of hope and new beginnings, Patrina and Weston, unexpectedly learn true love in one another. However, as Patrina’s scandalous past threatens their future and the happiness of his children, they are both left to determine if love is enough.

So A Marquess for Christmas is the next book in the Scandalous Season Series and this is by far my favorite. I would recommend that you read Always a Rogue, Forever Her Love BEFORE reading this novella, as it really does give you more back story.

So the story is as follows; Lady Patrina Tidemore has given up on love and has accepted her responsibility in the scandal that caused her to become shammed and an outcast from London Society. He she has to suffer the embarrassment of gossiping women and the heartbreak of bringing shame to her family, especially her sisters. So she spends her days hiding from society’s eyes and haunting the snow covered grounds of Hyde Park. Hyde Park has become the place where Patrina has found solitude, a place where she can self-recriminations of her foolishness, but little does she know that in an instant her whole life can change, but this time for the better.

Weston Aldridge, the 4th Marquess of Beaufort is a man that has also experienced a world of heartache. His late wife betrayed him and their love match. She taught their children that servants are not people to be respected or liked, but to be ignored and belittled and that lying was acceptable. But Weston loves his children with all his heart and when they comes across a young miss in the park throwing snowball at his children, he protects them and put’s this young women in her place.

Weston and his children have managed to bring the smile and laughter back into Patrina’s life, but what will happen when Weston finds out about her scandal.

I really cannot even tell you just how much I LOVE THIS BOOK! From the first sentence I was in tears. I honestly felt Patrina’s pain and despair as she stood in Hyde Park, my heart literally bleeds for her, then when we meet Weston and the children, which truly sealed the book for me. Every character in this book was magical for me…well except for Weston’s Sister; I don’t think I can put down what I think of her, other than to say I seriously do not like her!

The whole story was magical for me, as someone that used to live near Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park, I LOVE it when the writer gets the locations and the feel of the place correct and Christi hits the nail on the head. The writing is smooth and the story is delicious and adding to the trifecta there is not a plot whole to be found, which makes me very happy :-)

After all of my gushing is done, I give A Marquess for Christmas 10 out of 10!

USA Today Bestselling author, Christi Caldwell blames Judith McNaught's "Whitney, My Love," for luring her into the world of historical romance. While sitting in her graduate school apartment at the University of Connecticut, Christi decided to set aside her notes and try her hand at writing romance. She believes the most perfect heroes and heroines have imperfections and she rather enjoys tormenting them before crafting a well-deserved happily ever after!

Christi makes her home in Southern Connecticut where she spends her time writing, chasing around her feisty six-year old son and caring for her twin princesses in training!
